Privacy Policy
KinDial brings your household’s shared places and statuses into one view. Here is how your information is used, what stays on your device, and the choices you have.
Last updated:
1. Who is responsible
This policy covers the KinDial app for iPhone and iPad and the services that support its accounts and household sharing.
Data controller: Bohemia Falcon Studio, the publisher of KinDial. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to this publisher.
You can contact us through KinDial Support at kindial@bohemiafalcon.cz about this policy or your personal information.
2. Information we use
Account and sign-in information
When you sign in using an email code, we process your email address, account identifier, and authentication information needed to verify your sign-in and maintain your session. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the account information Apple supplies for authentication, including an email address or Apple private relay address. KinDial requests the email scope, not your legal name.
Profile and household information
We process the nickname you choose, your optional profile photo, your hand color and appearance settings, household membership and owner role, household name, invitations, and shared place names and icons. This information supports your household’s shared dial and membership controls.
Shared statuses
We process your last reported status, such as Home, Work, School, In transit, or Unknown; the associated place identifier; confirmation time; and technical identifiers needed to deliver updates reliably and avoid duplicates. These records are linked to your household profile. A familiar name can reveal where you may be to someone who understands it, even though coordinates are not included.
Reporting-device information
To manage which device can report automatically, KinDial uses an app-generated device identifier, a device label you can edit, and selection information. This identifier is not a hardware serial number. Your other signed-in devices can display your household without becoming the reporting device.
Local information
Your private saved places, their coordinates and arrival boundaries, local preferences, and temporary pending updates are stored or processed on your device. Authentication credentials are stored in device-bound Keychain storage. The local demo uses sample household data and does not become a signed-in household.
Service and support information
Online services receive connection information such as an IP address and request timing when your device connects. Authentication, hosting, and email services may maintain operational and security logs. If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. Please avoid including precise locations or other household members’ information unless needed for your request.
3. How location privacy works
Each household member privately defines what a shared place name means on their own device. “Work” can refer to your workplace on your phone and a different workplace on another member’s phone.
- Recognition happens on your device. With the required permissions, KinDial uses Apple’s location services to determine whether your device is at a configured place or moving between places.
- Household updates exclude precise geography. Raw location readings, GPS coordinates, saved boundaries, routes, speed, and accuracy measurements are not included in the household status update.
- Saved geographic definitions stay local. Saved coordinates and boundaries are encrypted on your device, excluded from backups, and are not synced to iCloud or KinDial’s household server.
- Background checks are optional. If you enable updates while locked and grant the required permissions, iOS may allow location checks in the background. iOS controls their timing; a last reported status does not prove that someone is still at that place.
Place names and other text you enter are shared as text. If you use a street address as a shared place name, that address will be visible to your household. Use familiar labels if you want to keep the address private.
Apple Maps place search
When you search for a place, Apple Maps receives your search text and, when available, the map area used for the search. This is separate from sending a status to your household.
Optional iPad weather
Weather is optional and off by default. If enabled on iPad, an approximate device location is sent to Apple for weather and city-name lookup. This uses a separate location check and does not use your saved household-place boundaries. Turning weather off clears the app’s in-memory weather and location information.
4. Why information is used
We use information to sign you in, operate your household, show profiles and statuses, deliver invitations and sign-in emails, synchronize updates, manage your reporting device, protect accounts, resolve support requests, and carry out deletion requests.
Where European data-protection law applies, core account and household processing is necessary to provide the service you request. Security, abuse prevention, and essential service administration are based on our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable service. We rely on consent where legally required for optional processing, and on legal obligations where applicable. A device permission controls access to that device feature; it does not authorize unrelated uses of information.
KinDial does not include advertising networks or cross-app advertising tracking. The app does not use precise household-location readings for advertising or upload them to analytics. Your household data is not offered for sale.
5. Who can receive information
Your household
Household members can see shared profiles, place names, and statuses with their confirmation times. The owner can manage members and shared places. Only join households and invite people with whom you want to share this information. We cannot prevent another member from remembering, recording, or taking a screenshot of information they can see.
Service providers
- Supabase: provides authentication, database hosting, and synchronization for account and household data. The configured KinDial backend is in the EU West (Ireland) region.
- Email delivery services: process your email address and sign-in messages to deliver authentication codes. Your email provider also processes incoming messages under its own terms.
- Apple: provides Sign in with Apple, device location services, Maps place search, and optional weather, when you use those features.
Providers process the information required for the services they supply. Apple’s services are also subject to Apple’s privacy information. Supabase provides information about its practices at supabase.com/privacy.
The backend’s configured region does not mean that every provider operation, support activity, or email delivery occurs only in that country. Where personal information is transferred internationally, applicable data-protection requirements and transfer safeguards apply. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your data.
Other disclosures
Information may be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address fraud, abuse, or threats to the security or rights of users. Household information is not made publicly searchable by KinDial.
6. Retention and deletion
Account and household records are kept while needed to provide the service. Shared place names and household information can remain for other members after you leave. Operational logs, backups, support messages, and security records may remain for the period needed for service operation, security, resolving a request, or legal obligations. Their retention depends on the record’s purpose and the relevant provider’s settings; this policy does not promise immediate erasure from every backup or log.
Delete your KinDial data in the app
Use Settings → Delete KinDial account. The deletion option is also available before you join a household. A household owner must transfer ownership before deleting their KinDial account.
The app removes your KinDial profile and photo, household membership, shared status, reporting-device selection, and associated invitation records. It clears private saved places and pending updates on the current device. Other devices clear affected local data after they reconnect and learn of the deletion. The household and other members’ data are not deleted.
Sign-in identity and security records: the current in-app deletion flow does not delete the underlying authentication identity. A minimal account identifier and revocation timestamp are also retained to prevent older sessions from restoring deleted KinDial data. For a request covering the remaining authentication identity or other retained personal information, contact KinDial Support. Any retention exceptions will be explained in response to your request.
Signing out, turning off automatic reporting, or uninstalling the app is not the same as requesting deletion of server-side account data. Signing out may leave encrypted saved places on the device for a later authorized sign-in. Deletion cannot remove copies other household members have independently saved.
7. Your choices and rights
- Control location access. Change KinDial’s permissions in your device’s Settings. You can turn off automatic reporting, release the reporting device, or use manual status confirmation.
- Choose what to share. Edit your profile, omit a profile photo, and avoid sensitive text in shared names. Manual status confirmation pauses automatic reporting until you select and configure a reporting device again.
- Control optional features. Turn off iPad weather in KinDial settings and choose whether to use Apple Maps place search.
- Leave or delete. Use the household membership and account deletion controls. Owners must transfer ownership before leaving or deleting their account.
Stopping future updates does not automatically remove the last shared status. Your household may continue to see older information until it is replaced or removed.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information, restrict processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Rights can be subject to legal exceptions and to the rights of other people.
Send requests to kindial@bohemiafalcon.cz. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We cannot retrieve private saved geographic definitions from KinDial’s server because they are kept on your device.
8. Children and family use
KinDial includes playful styles and can be used within a family household. A child’s nickname, photo, and named-place status can still be personal information, even when precise coordinates are not shared.
A parent or guardian should help children understand who is in the household and what they share. Where applicable law requires parental authorization, it must be obtained before a child’s personal information is processed. A household invitation or a device location permission is not, by itself, verification of parental authorization.
If you believe a child’s information has been provided without the required authorization, contact KinDial Support so we can review the situation and address removal or restriction as appropriate.
9. Security
KinDial uses encrypted local storage for saved geographic definitions, device-bound storage for session credentials, encrypted network connections, and access controls for household records. These measures reduce risk, but no device, network, or storage system is completely secure. Keep your devices protected and do not share sign-in codes or household invitations with unintended recipients.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a relevant change takes effect.
